SAVE THE DATE! Pocatello's 2nd Annual Neon Fest

July 6-10, Chief Theater Neon Sign repainting work done throughout the week.

Fri, July 10, 5:00pm - 10:00pm Shopping & Walking Tours

Sat, July 11, 9:00am - 11:00pm  Farmers Market, Shopping, Concert, Sign Lighting, Movie in the Park!

Join us for the 2nd Annual Pocatello's Neon Fest - a two day celebration of the historic neon signs in Historic Downtown Pocatello!

It’s time to show some love for the sign that started it all! The very first neon sign to be restored by Relight the Night, the Historic Chief Theater Neon Sign, is located on the 200 block of North Main St., in the heart of Downtown Pocatello. The sign was completed restored and relit in November 2013. After 13 years of standing tall through the Idaho weather, this beautiful sign will receive a new coat of paint done by local artist Nick Hottman. Visitors and locals are invited to stop by throughout the week to watch Nick work and visit as he brings back the brilliance of this historic sign.

Kids ages 8 to 12 are invited to pick up an “Idaho’s Neon Capital Coloring Sheet” during the week at one of our participating merchants. One winner will be selected from all those returned by 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 9. That lucky winner will get to go up on a lift with Nick Hottman and count down to the sign being turned back on!

Friday evening features a Downtown Merchant event with art, music, food and neon giveaways from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. At 8:00 p.m. gather at the Chief Theater Neon Sign and watch the neon light up on the freshly painted sign. Then plan to join us for hosted walking tours with our local neon experts. Walk through Downtown, sign to sign, and learn about the history and charm of the restored neon signs.

On Saturday, shop and play Downtown at the Portneuf Valley Farmers Market, Crafters Market at Station Square and at our beautiful shops, boutiques, bookstores, and more!

At 6:00 p.m. come to Lookout Point for live music by “Old School Combo,” food trucks and neon giveaways. At 8:30 p.m. we will relight our newest neon sign, the “Chopstick Cafe” Neon Sign followed by a movie in the park featuring "The Karate Kid." Free popcorn, cookies and neon drinks!

All events during Neon Fest are free! All fun for the entire family!

Lodging discounts are available! Come for a couple of days, or the entire week! There is so much to see and do in Pocatello-Chubbuck Idaho! Visit www.visitpocatello.com for more information!

The Chopstick Cafe Neon Sign originally hung on the Chopstick Cafe Chinese Restaurant located at 228 S. Main St.  The sign was installed by the Hom Family in 1950 and removed in 2019 when the restaurant was closed and the building was sold.  Thanks to the Matkin Family, the sign was safely put in storage until August 2025 when they donated the sign back to Relight the Night.  This historic sign will once again shine brightly every evening after it is relit on Saturday, July 11.  If you would like to assist in funding to make this relighting possible, please click on the "Relight the Night" tab above.
